Australia is one of the countries that has a universal visa policy, which implies that the majority of foreign nationals have to apply for a visa regardless the purpose or the duration of the stay. There can be some exemptions from this rule, but in the case of those who want to immigrate to Australia from Argentina, visa policies are in force.

What are some of the visa formalities applicable to Argentinians?
Argentinians are required to apply for a visa, as per the rules on immigration in Australia. First of all, all Argentinians arriving here, even for short-term stays, must have a valid passport, the only travel document that can grant the right to enter the Australian territory.
The passport itself must comply with a few requirements, in the sense that it must be valid for a period of at least 6 months and must also have at least 1 blank page. Along with the passport, Argentinians must submit 2 recent photos that respect the international standard. They are also required to complete a visa application form when they immigrate to Australia from Argentina.
Another requirement is to have the proof of reservation for the visit in Australia and this includes the flight ticket and the accommodation. Depending on the case, they may also be asked to provide a letter of invitation, drafted and signed by an Australian third party. Our immigration lawyer in Australia can offer more details on other basic requirements that can apply to Argentinians.
These rules apply even for tourist visas. It must be mentioned that Australia provides the possibility of arriving here under the Electronic Travel Authority (ETA) which is not a visa, as the procedure can be completed online, but which is a mandatory legal formality. However, ETA is not available for Argentinians, therefore they need to apply for standard visitor visas.

Australian employment visas
The Australian Department of Home Affairs provides 23 types of work visas, awarded for temporary employment, skilled employment, regional employment (visas designed for specific parts of the country) or business visas.
In many of these cases, foreigners can relocate here with their close family members, as per the rules on immigration to Australia. This can be the case of the Skilled Regional visa (Subclass 489), which offers the right of living and working here for a period of 4 years.
Family members of a person who holds this visa can migrate to Australia by applying for a Subsequent Entry Pathway, granting the same residency rights. We invite you to contact our lawyers if you want to move to Australia from Argentina as a family member of work visa holder.
